Mentors work with participants to establish and implement personal goals. Over the course of the program, a family-like community is formed through the creation of an environment based on safety, trust, compassion, and forgiveness.

Hosting the Coming Home Program for four years was a valuable learning experience for the congregation, a community-building experience for the many congregations and individuals that took part, as well as a life-enhancing experience for the participants. We feel privileged to have been able to make this contribution, thanks to grants from the Unitarian Universalist Association, the New York State Convention of Universalists, the Jeannette F. Schlobach Fund of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley; and donations from many community members.
Graduation at any level Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, High School, College is always exciting; a source of pride and satisfaction for the students, teachers, family and friends. It is not surprising then, that it was a packed room for the celebration ceremony of the 7 participants in the third Coming Home Program - a moving, heartfelt, jubilant occasion. Mentees and their mentors completed a 19 week course of guidance through the maze leading from incarceration to reentry into community.

In a survey of more than 2, hotel visitors conducted by Potter and two other University of Kentucky entomologists, fewer than one in three could correctly identify an adult bedbug. Look at guides published by the Environmental Protection Agency , which show the size and appearance of bedbugs at different stages in their life cycle.
Bedbugs are flat, wingless, and slightly teardrop-shaped, with tan, brown, or reddish-brown coloring. They range in size from 1 mm nymphs to 5—7 mm adults , and their eggs look like tiny, white grains of rice. These were the spots I discovered in the Berkeley motel.
Pull back the sheets and look closely at the surface, sides, and seams of the mattress near the headboard. Pack a small, strong flashlight to help you see into crevices and behind the headboard if possible. Wirecutter recommends the Mini Maglite Pro. Bites or skin reactions alone are not a reliable sign of bedbugs.
Potter says its prudent to store your suitcase on a hard surface, such as a dresser or luggage rack, which bedbugs are unlikely to be able to reach. Packing cubes can help you stay organized and access your clothing and belongings without having to remove everything from your suitcase.
